Terms and conditions

Last updated 1 September 2026.

1. Who we are

Jock River Appliance Repair is a mobile appliance repair business operating in Nepean and Stittsville, Ottawa, Ontario. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Jock River Appliance Repair, and “you” means the person booking or paying for the service.

2. Booking a visit

A booking is confirmed when we give you an appointment by phone or message. Requests sent through the website are not confirmed until we contact you. We repair appliances in your home only; we do not sell appliances or parts and there is no location to drop an appliance off at.

3. Diagnosis and quotes

A diagnostic fee plus HST applies to each visit. It covers travel, testing and a written quote. We do not quote repair prices over the phone, because a fault can only be priced once the appliance has been tested. If you approve the quoted repair, the diagnostic fee is not charged. Quotes are valid for 30 days and are based on the fault found; if a second, unrelated fault appears during the repair, we stop and quote it separately before continuing.

4. Prices and payment

Prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude HST. Payment is due on completion of the work by card, e-transfer or cash. Overdue balances may carry interest at 1.5% per month.

5. Parts

Parts remain our property until the invoice is paid in full. Replaced parts are disposed of by us unless you ask to keep them at the time of the repair.

6. Your responsibilities

You confirm that you own the appliance or have permission to have it repaired, and that you have told us about any modification, previous repair or known hazard. Please provide safe access, clear the area around the appliance, and secure pets. An adult must be present for the visit.

7. Limits of our liability

We are responsible for damage caused directly by our own negligence. We are not responsible for pre-existing faults, for the failure of parts we did not supply, for spoiled food or other indirect losses, or for damage caused by moving an appliance that was already unstable or improperly installed. Our total liability for any one visit is limited to the amount invoiced for it.

8. Appliances we decline

We may decline a repair when parts are no longer manufactured, when an appliance has been altered in a way that makes it unsafe, or when the cost of the repair is clearly out of proportion to the value of the machine. The diagnostic fee still applies in these cases.

9. Warranty

Repairs are covered for 90 days as set out on our warranty page.

10. Cancellations

See the cancellation policy.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it. Nothing in them limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published here on the date your visit is booked.
